Modulor Studio proposed replacing car parking at the rear of the 15-19 Blenheim Terrace with a new 3 storey, 3 bedroom 155sqm dwelling house with 3 undercroft parking spaces. We have secured planning consent for this sensitive site following extensive negotiations and building a solid case for well crafted and policy compliant creative design.

We translated the historical mews house characteristics into a modern architectural style. The proposed design reintroduces typical mews features as a wide ground floor coach-doors with window fenestration above using modern architectural language consistent with town houses at the front of the site. The external materials as beige brick and reconstructed Portland stone refer to its historical context but are arranged in a way to create a dialog between traditional and modern design. The perforated metal elements with ornamental pattern at the front elevation create unique and simple composition.

Additionally, sustainability has been a key consideration in the scheme development, specifically in reducing the energy demand of the dwellings through improved fabric performance and passive design, as well as on site renewable energy measures.
