Rutford Road forms part of Lambeth Council’s strategy to transform existing underused council-owned land to provide much needed temporary emergency accommodation while improving amenity for existing and future residents. This proposal looked to positively transform existing back-land site to provide 9 self-contained temporary accommodation apartments, shared gardens, play & amenity areas & cycle parking.

Having worked very closely with Lambeth Council, Lambeth planning department and the local community, we have achieved the first backland garden development within the borough under current planning policies in recognition of well-considered design responding to a sensitive context. New homes will be factory-built and installed on a parcel of land behind existing hostels and surrounded by shared gardens, play spaces and vegetable patches.
